Looking at the Opera House |
Now showing at the Ken Done Gallery in the Rocks 'Looking at the Opera House: Selected Paintings, drawings and prints, 1982-2009'.
The Sydney Opera House, Joern Utzon’s architectural masterpiece, is a world recognised symbol of Australia and has become a central feature of Done’s Sydney paintings, approximately thirty of which make up this extraordinary exhibition.
“The stunning, soaring, sensational Sydney Opera House. I’ve drawn the Opera House straight. I’ve painted it in white, yellow, blue, pink, magenta, emerald, turquoise…purple and black. I’ve painted it soft, hard edged, ethereal, misty, blatant and bold. Upside-down, sideways and inside out.” Ken Done, Ken Done Sydney: 20 Years of Paintings, The Ink Group, 1999
Now showing at the Ken Done Gallery, 1 Hickson Road, The Rocks, Sydney. Exhibition open every day, 10.00am-5.30pm.
